the glory of living in lisboa 11

This sunday the tallships stage from Lisboa to Cadiz started. We choose to go to the left bank of the river to see the naval parade. From that side we have the sun behind and we see the boats with lisboa as a scenery. the place was casa da cerca gardens where we made a picnic. until 1.30 pm our group was the only people there. when we leave (for the beach) there were some people but not in exaggerated numbers. I find funny that the spanish vessel is called sebastian delcano (who simply concluded the journey planned and most of the way commanded by the portuguese Fernão de Magalhães (Magellan for the vocal handicapped) whereas our ship is called after the whole school of sagres due to the abundance of possible choices : Diogo Cão, João Gonçalves Zarco, Gaspar or Miguel Côrte-Real, Bartolomeu Dias, Vasco da Gama, Pedro Alvares Cabral, Joáo Rodrigues de Cabrilho and so many others…
